Glass Envelope
CD Packaging
The band is known for their humor and fun-loving personalities in their lyrics and live shows and wanted the title of their EP to reflect that. After throwing around a few ideas, they settled on the seemingly random, “Yes, We Are That Obvious” which was fully based on the art direction for the cover. The idea would be the band would be holding glass and envelopes. Yes, they are that obvious.
We worked with good friend and collaborator, the super talented Sarah Crawmer who handled all the photography. While she was working on the photography, I was beginning to put together color palettes, layout comps, and the general art direction. As I mentioned earlier, the band is just a really fun group of guys and I wanted the packaging to have a fun and loud feel to it. I originally was working with hot pinks and blues but that slowly morphed into the final color scheme of purple and yellow.
Website
As the album packaging began to take shape and the more I talked with the band, the color scheme shifted into a darker feel with deep purple, black and yellow; a group of colors that look really nicely in the print as well as on the screen.
I knew the site would have a unique position in the band's online presence. In a time when music consumers find new bands through social networking sites like Myspace, Purevolume, and Facebook, I wanted the site to compliment these established networks, but hopefully present something unique to the band. Links to Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are prominent features allowing the band to connect on a more personal level with their fans.
Shirts
The first project I did for Glass Envelope, I worked on three t-shirt designs that the band would sell at their shows. Each design has a unique style that's sure to appeal to it's fan base.
